This year, 262 private companies and 238 public companies were ranked in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2006 program.

It includes companies based in Australia , China , Hong Kong SAR, India , Indonesia , Japan , Macau SAR, Malaysia , Philippines , New Zealand , Singapore , South Korea , Taiwan , Thailand and Vietnam . The program also profiles the top 500 Asia Pacific companies both public and private, based on percentage revenue growth over three years.

Semiconductor, Components and Electronics companies retained the Industry sector top spot, representing 24.5% of Asia Pacific winning companies and Software companies representing 24.6% were a close second. India once again provided the largest number of Software companies (27) in the ranking, followed by China (21) and Korea (20). Japan contributed the largest number of Internet Companies (30), followed by Australia (23).

The best growth opportunities for Asia Pacific based companies are largely seen to be in the regional marketplace (65.4%). The technology Industry sub-segment that promises the greatest potential growth for the next 12 months are: Internet/IP-related (23.1%), Wireless Communications Service (22.1%), Semiconductors, components and electronics (11.1%), Off-shoring services and infrastructure (8.2%), Technology Outsourcing (6.7%) and Business Software (6.7%).
